In an era where materials were scarce, the mamas of the 1920's took the popular motto of "Repair, reuse, make do, and don't throw anything away" to a whole new level. Creating dresses from feed sacks and flour bags thrifty met creative and women of all ages donned dresses created from modest bags. By 1940 bag manufacturers took notice, churning out patterned bags full of bright color and bold prints. A way to make money in times of need, many woman sold recycled bags, entered sewing contests, and brought optimism to a time of uncertainty. It is this brightness that Flowermill® Dresses hopes to achieve.
Long nights of sewing, plenty of caffeine, mandated pajama days, and grandmas' sewing tips are helping this mama pay homage to the timeless creations of the 20s-50s. Utilizing today's modern fabrics and yesterday's classic designs, Flowermill® brings you modern milled dresses handmade in Texas you'll be passing on for generations to come.

A little about me....I'm Allyson, Wife to Scott, and Mommy to Norah & Griffin. I'm a self professed germaphob, incredibly Type A, a vegetarian, and a Texas transplant. My favorites include sugary coffees, color coordinated to do lists, cozy socks, leggings, and carbs. Formerly a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner I'm now spending my days soaking in my tiny army. I sew when they retreat for the evening and I wouldn't have it any other way :) I hope you feel the love and work that goes into each and every piece I create.
